"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" from Joshua 24:15
Many of the homeschool families go to the PHV protestant chapel. We talked about it, going to one of those institutional church services, I mean, and I had many doubts as the time got closer.
Then Micah and I were downstairs talking about 1 Corinthians 9:22. "To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some."
I was referencing an unrelated topic but as we discussed becoming all things for all people in order to win at least some from among them, I thought about the context was Paul ministring to other Hebrews and weaker Christians who were legalistic in many ways. As I stated that yeah, like "Paul shaving his head for them, dressing like them in order to have that gateway in"
We are (especially in the Western segment of our diaspora) wholesale forgetting who we are, where we've come from, what our culture is, and why we are here. We often look and act and talk and think and believe and do just as any of the others would. We are moving rapidly away from where we ought to be. We must fulfill why we are here and not be assimilated into the nations and peoples of the World. We are called to be among other peoples, but not to become other peoples. Quite the opposite. We are ambassadors sent to represent our God and our Nation before all and make the offer of invitation for Citizenship known. So, we must honor our God and strengthen our culture of faith amongst one another.
1 Peter 2:9
But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light
So, in terms of cutting a portion of pie or cake or something for yourself, we have these:
Slice - Yes, that's normal slice of pie.
Slighs - A slightly smaller slice of pie than normal. Maybe 1/2 a slice.
Sleece - A very thin slice of pie. 1/4 inch or less. Something like what you'd cut for yourself if you were trying to eat some of the pie without anyone being able to tell you sliced any
off.The problem is that everyone normally does this and so the pie disappears in
record time. The purpose of the Slighs you took is moot and the pie is gone.
I'm thinking of Congress just now. Don't know why...
Sleeghste - This is the newest addition. Micah came up with this one and it's basically the
crumbs or a crumb.
We are back to the slice now. Let's go the other direction.
Sloose - A bit of a large portion but not a ridiculous amount at all. Perhaps a slice and a half.
Sloghs - An obnoxiously large piece. Something like what Goliath might cut for himself.
Here's our Nathan who looks like he may have just woken up.
The kids were making bublle beards and here's a shot of Hannah acting silly while eating a cracker, wearing her beard.
Hi family, friends, etc. I've mentioned before that we drive to a family farm in Mannheim about once per week in order to buy fresh, raw, unpasturized, etc., milk. Here's a picture of some of that delicious and fresh milk. Looks like something out of those old cartoons, huh?
I've mentioned that we draw water from various springs at the base of different mountains around where we live. Some springs flow more quickly than others. The one with the fastest water flow happens to also be the closest to our house. It's a very popular spring so I typically end up going at about 9 or 10pm. Here's a picture of the storage area we have. This lasts a little over a week. It is ice cold when first drawn, even in the summer and it is so very refreshing.
